Vinous Neal Martin - 25 Mar 25
The 2010 Raymond-Lafon has a light bouquet with dried honey, almond shavings and saffron, but considering the season, I would have liked more intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, more complex than the bottle encountered four years ago, with lots of sucrosity on the finish that maybe just shaves away some of its precision. But certainly, this deserves a more generous score than I gave before.

Sauternes Fine Wine

Sauternes

Sauternes, a renowned Bordeaux appellation in the Graves region, is famous for its luxurious sweet white wines made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). This fungus concentrates sugars, creating wines with rich sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity. Sauternes wines feature complex aromas and flavours of apricot, honey, peach, citrus, and vanilla, with excellent ageing potential. Top producers include Château d'Yquem, Château Rieussec, Château Suduiraut, and Château Coutet.
